One thing we tried is recycling crayons. It is surprisingly easy to do and the kids really enjoyed it.
Here are our results:-
We learned a few things along the way, all the crayons had different melting points so some didn't melt at all. Keep the oven temp low and keep checking on them. The first lot we did boiled because the oven was on too hot and we left them too long - they turned out more sludge coloured then multi-coloured.
I think we will be making more of these.

I did mine at about Gas Mark 4 for about 5 mins but it does depend a lot on the crayons. The really cheap ones melted too quickly.
They look a bit horrible on top but are great underneath!
I have seen other instructions where you melt them into a big block and then while still warm you cut them out with cookie cutters. We are going to try this when I get some better cutters!
